Bomber Mayhem

This past August I took some time off to enjoy a week’s fishing with my family in British Columbia. Large chironomids we affectionately call “bombers” due to their large size and the awkward flight characteristics of the adults, were hatching in large numbers. We were using #10 and #8 2xl pupa patterns to match the hatch! Fishing was fantastic and the takes weren’t subtle.

Don’t forget to check out mine and Brian Chan’s Stillwater Fly Fishing App. Our currently contains over 100 video tips including additional detail for some of the specific presentation techniques and tactics we used on this trip. Once downloaded to your smartphone no Wi-Fi connection is needed to access the content. It’s like having Brian and me on the water with you.

Check out the links below to what worked best, the equipment we used and to download and subscribe to the Stillwater Fly Fishing app.
